Fintura Wins South African Startup World Cup and Heads to Silicon Valley for Global Finals
On 26 June 2025 at the FinTech Summit Africa in Johannesburg, Fintura emerged as the winner of the South African Startup World Cup, hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures. The event brought together the top 10 fintech startups in South Africa, each competing for the coveted top spot and the opportunity to pitch in San Francisco against global regional finalists for a potential $1 million investment.
As a connected practice-management platform for accounting firms, Fintura is tackling one of the industry’s biggest challenges: the fragmentation of accounting software. Our solution unifies compliance, tax and practice management into one platform, already helping 15 accounting firms and 1,500+ of their clients save up to 10 hours per week of billable time.

Competition Overview
The Startup World Cup is one of the world’s largest pitch competitions, with regional events across the globe leading to a grand finale in Silicon Valley. Hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, it provides a platform for high-potential startups to showcase their solutions to international investors and industry leaders.
At the Johannesburg regional final, Fintura stood out for our scalable business model and our ability to solve a real, global accounting problem: the inefficiency and compliance risk created by juggling multiple disconnected software tools.

We went on to represent South Africa at the Startup World Cup Global Finals in San Francisco. We did not win in the finals, and it was a great experience: pitching alongside regional winners from around the world, in front of international investors, and bringing what we learned home. Our focus remains on building the most complete practice platform available for accounting firms, scaling to new markets and delivering value to accountants.
